Twelve time sand sculpture World Champions continue their tedious work crafting a unique sculpture at the Nebraska State Fair. Their creations take weeks to build and only seconds to ruin.
All eyes catch on this giant lump of sand as they walk through the south gate onto the fairgrounds.
"They're very interested in what were doing," professional sand sculpture Brad Goll says.
The Sandscapes team travel the nation designing sand sculptures.
"We build the wooden forums, put sand and water inside them, then we pull the wood off and start carving," Goll says.
They make sure every single detail of their creation is perfected. This tedious work doesn't go unnoticed.
"How anybody could do a thing like this! It's so intricate," said fair visitor Corky Thulan.
All their efforts still could tumble down before their very eyes.
"Rain can be a problem," Goll said. "Especially the rain we got a couple days ago. So we're glad to have a tent over it. But the wind... not so much."
The team encourages everyone to come and check out their progress throughout the week. They're expected to be finished Saturday.
