Aleksandr Voznyuk
Petr Strizheus
Two South Dakota men accused of shooting at a Nebraska state trooper have been sentenced to prison.
Aleksandr Voznyuk, 22, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. Petr Strizheus, 19, of Harrisburg, S.D., was given 15 to 45 years.
Authorities Voznyuk and Strizheus had fired at the trooper during a Kearney County vehicle chase in January. The officer was not hurt, but his cruiser was hit once.
Both men made deals with prosecutors. Both pleaded no contest to
unlawful discharge of a firearm and to attempted first-degree assault on
an officer. Strizheus also pleaded no contest to operating a motor
vehicle to avoid arrest. Voznyuk pleaded no contest to a weapons charge.
