Homecoming Week is Underway at Hastings College

Hastings– As part of its week-long Homecoming celebration, Hastings College students have selected their peers from across campus to serve as the 2012 Homecoming candidates. 

The king, queen, prince and princess for the weekend's festivities will be announced at a special dinner on Thursday, September 13 – the 130th anniversary of the College's founding.

With the 130th anniversary and the inauguration of HC's 15th President, Dennis Trotter, this Homecoming week will be particularly special.

Among the events are alumni speakers presentations from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the inauguration and a community barbeque, all on Friday at 710 N. Turner Ave.

On Saturday, September the 61st annual Melody Round-Up Parade will begin at 10 a.m., followed by free Floats after the Floats in downtown Hastings, on 2nd St. and St. Joseph Ave. Later that day, events return to campus starting with the HC Bronco Men's Soccer game at 1 p.m. on Lloyd Wilson Field, then a carnival on campus starting at 2 p.m. near the Gray Center for Communication Arts. Finally the first home football game for the HC Bronco Football team will start at 6 p.m. on Lloyd Wilson Field.

On Sunday the weekend will conclude with Hastings College Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings and the Bronco Gallop 5K Run/Walk starting at 2 p.m. near the Morrison-Reeves Science Center.
