Phelps County Arrests 10 in "You Drink. You Drive. You Lose." - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

The Phelps County Sheriff's Office has completed a Mini-Grant Contract "You Drink. You Drive You Lose." Sponsored by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

This was a 50-hour overtime grant which allowed deputies to be out on extra patrol hours, August 17 through the Labor Day weekend.

The goal of "You Drink. You Drive. You Lose." was to reduce fatal and serious injury related accidents contributed by alcohol.  The total amount $1,695.93 will be awarded for this grant period, to cover the deputies wages plus mileage.

During the enforcement 10 arrests were made. Three for driving under the influence of alcohol, two for driving under suspension, four for outstanding warrants and one arrest for procuring for minors.

23 citations and six warnings were also issued for various traffic violations.
