FFA students have attended Husker Harvest Days since opening day in 1978. Wednesday, students from across the state had the opportunity to pursue their interests in the industry.
Of course every kid loves the freebies handed out, but FFA students that attend Husker Harvest Days take home more than just pencils and brochures.
Many look for future career paths and one individual receives a $500 dollar scholarship.
Each FFA student was handed a scavenger hunt early Wednesday morning as they entered the Husker Harvest Day's gates. As they walked through the fairgrounds, they had to speak to several professionals about the industry.
At the end of the day every student that finished the hunt, was entered in a raffle to win a $500 scholarship to the UNL Institute of Ag and National Resources. Although this event helps prepare students for their future it also prepares them for the present.
"Every year the technology in ag is just amazing," said Marc Wittstruck, Ag Education instructor at Crete High School. "It changes all the time. They're going to see something new out here every year."
The last day of Husker Harvest Days is September 13.
