"Do Good Dads" Campaign Against Three Neb. Judges

Posted: Updated:

Kearney - A Kearney group is targeting three judges for removal when they go up for retention votes in the Nov. 6 election.

The group is called "The Do Good Dads Against Unjust Judges."

Their goal is to convince voters to vote against the retention of County Court Judges Gerald Jorgensen and Graten Beavers and District Court Judge John Icenogle.

Organizer Jacob Sikes said the judges' "principles and morals just don't match up to what we believe here in central Nebraska."

Sikes and one of the judges, Icenogle, have a history.

Icenogle presided over a child custody case involving Sikes earlier this year. However, the group organizer said the campaign isn't a vendetta in reaction to the ruling by Icenogle made earlier this year.

Icenogle spoke for himself and the other two judges and said all three are prohibited from commenting on the campaign to unseat them.
