With buildings close to a century old, Mid-Plains Community College needed an upgrade. Now after years of planning, they've opened new doors in several facilities.
This is a growing school with campuses now in four different locations including North Platte,
McCook, Broken Bow and Ogallala.
The North Platte campus added a new health and science center last month. The building has state of the art technology including high-tech equipment and extra lab space for classes.
The McCook campus added a new events center. This 53,400 sq. ft. facility is packed with an auxiliary gymnasium, locker rooms, athletic training rooms and more.
All these improvements help Mid-Plains Community College keep up with their growing enrollment numbers.
"Last year was our record enrollment," Mid-Plains Community College President Ryan Purdy said. "We had an 8.22 percent increase. We're the only community college in Nebraska that had an increase."
The interest to pursue higher education at MPCC is rising and so is the success rate of grads. Last year 100 percent of nursing students received jobs after graduation.
With growing enrollment numbers and a new campus, MPCC has high hopes for the future.
