Sen. Johanns Honors Blue Hill Heroes - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

Sen. Mike Johanns Wednesday honored two local heroes who responded immediately after they saw a fatal accident involving a Blue Hill school bus and semi truck.

Ron Meyer and Phil Petr arrived at the scene of the Blue Hill school bus accident just moments after the crass occurred. They both boarded the bus and helped get five children to safety before first responders arrived.

Sen. Johanns said of the two, "They are guardian angels whose heroic actions will never be forgotten."

Sen. Johanns also thanked the first responders for their actions during the tragedy.
