As election day draws near, Nebraska's U.S. Senate candidate Bob Kerrey speaks to those he would be representing about issues important to them.
Saturday afternoon, Senator Bob Kerrey spoke at an education forum in Kearney to get a feel from teachers of what's working or not, and how the federal government can help make their jobs easier.
Kerrey believes that his experience with trying to improve education has led to good relationships on both local and national levels.
"I've been involved in education since I was governor, so I've been involved with trying to improve the quality of K-12 system since 1983, four years as governor and 12 years in Senate," said U.S. Senate Candidate Bob Kerrey. "I've tried to be a good partner of school boards and school superintendents and teachers who have been increasingly finding it harder to get their jobs done. It's just the demands are greater than they used to be."
Kerrey says if elected he hopes to use ideas from educators to make him more effective and supportive of what public schools are trying to accomplish.
