Gothenburg Lake to be Restored - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

During The Central Platte Natural Resources District monthly Board of Directors meeting Thursday, the board approved the Western Projects Committee's recommendation to help restore Gothenburg's Lake Helen.

$50,000 will be allotted to the restoration in 2013, with the possibility of adding $50,000 to the budget in 2014.

The proposed project includes complete excavation, grading, riprap and grids to eliminate geese from landing on the lake along with a boat ramp and fish stocking. Total cost of the project is estimated at $1.5 million.

Bruce Clymer, Gothenburg city administrator, presented the request to the committee in August.
