During The Central Platte Natural Resources District monthly Board of Directors meeting Thursday, the board approved the Western Projects Committee's recommendation to help restore Gothenburg's Lake Helen.
$50,000 will be allotted to the restoration in 2013, with the possibility of adding $50,000 to the budget in 2014.
The proposed project includes complete
excavation, grading, riprap and grids to eliminate geese from landing on the lake along with
a boat ramp and fish stocking. Total cost of the project is estimated at
$1.5 million.
Bruce Clymer, Gothenburg city administrator, presented the request
to the committee in August.
