I-80 Accident Leaves One Dead and Two Children Unharmed

Posted: Updated:

An early morning accident on Interstate 80 results in one death, severe injuries to another and leaves two young children unharmed.

Sunday morning at 5:23 a.m. the Hall County Sheriff's Office was notified of a one vehicle injury accident that happened along mile marker 317 on I-80.

Police determined that the 2002 Toyota Four Runner, the car involved in the accident, was driven by 30-year-old Matthew Beasley of North Branch, Mich.

He was traveling eastbound on I-80 when the vehicle left the roadway and drove into the median. The driver over corrected, causing the vehicle to roll several times before coming to rest on its roof on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

The vehicle was occupied by Beasley, and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Jennifer Foster, of Shelby Township, Mich., and Beasley's two young daughters, ages two and three.

Foster was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene while Beasley was transported to St. Francis hospital with serious injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The two children were uninjured and were appropriately secured inside the vehicle.

Next of kin have been notified and are in route to Grand Island. In the meantime, Child Protective Services will provide care for the children until responsible adults arrive.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation of this accident. The Nebraska State Patrol will be assisting by reconstructing the accident. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
