A strip club will open their doors in Minden within the next 30 days according to the owner, Jonathon Canterbury. He owns the strip club in Elm Creek, Paradise City.
Monday night the Minden City Council received an application for a business request to build a strip club.
There is not really anything the city can do at this point to prevent the business from coming in because there are so many legal hurdles to go through and the zoning laws don't prohibit a business like this to build.
"There's just no way it could be a strip club, not in Minden," said Teresa Sumstine. That's what Sumstine was thinking as she was sitting in the Minden City Council meeting Monday evening.
"In my opinion it will bring in a new element of crime," said Sumstine.
The strip club will be located right across the street from her beauty salon business.
City officials have their hands tied because there isn't anything they can do. "You really can't control a great deal as long as it's a legal business and this one falls in that category," said Roger Jones, Minden's mayor.
The strip club will be called Confessions and will be open 7 p.m.- 4 a.m.
