The Hastings Kiwanis Club will be hosting a Family Fun Day on Saturday at the Kiwanis Kaboom Playground on the south side of Lake Hastings from 9 to 11 a.m.
The Family Fun Day coincides with the World Wide Day of Play sponsored by Nickelodeon, the children's cable television network, which will be going dark for three hours that day to help encourage kids to get away from their televisions, video games, laptops and cell phones and go outside and play.
There will be a number of free activities for children to enjoy including various games such as flag football, tug of war, kickball and much more. Representatives from the Nebraska Danger indoor football team will be there to play with the children as well as dogs from the K-9's and Friends group.
Parents are encouraged to stay and play with their children for the event.
This is the first year that the Hastings Kiwanis Club has organized a Family Fun Day in conjunction with the World Wide Day of Play. There is no charge for any of the activities and the event is open to the entire public. The Kiwanis Club is hoping to get 50 or more kids to come out!
