A fire keeps area firefighters from both Custer and Dawson counties busy.
Early Thursday afternoon, a fire broke out south of Oconto. Emergency management officials believe the fire started in a corn field then spread into pasture land, even threatening a home at one point.
Fire crews from at least seven departments fought winds that were causing the fire to spread and had to call in an airplane for help.
Approximately 1,500 acres were burned.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
