A 9-year-old boy has died after losing control of the ATV he was driving.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office received a call on the afternoon of October 12 reporting an ATV accident in rural Hall County.
Jack Tanner Thompson, a student at Howard Elementary in Grand Island, was driving the ATV around his home when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The ATV was found resting on top of Jack and leaning against a parked vehicle that had been knocked off its jack stand.
Jack was taken to St. Francis Hospital. A short time after admittance he was pronounced dead.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident. Evidence does indicate that Jack was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Both Jack's parents were at home at the time of the accident, but did not witness it.
