An 18-year-old Lincoln man has been taken into custody after allegedly dragging two Lincoln police officers behind his car.
Shahbaz Mohammad was arrested around 5 a.m. Monday morning and faces two
felony counts of assault on an officer and one count of fleeing to
avoid arrest.
Police spokeswoman Katie Flood says a car was pulled over late Sunday evening. The officers that pulled the car over say the driver did not properly identify himself. When the officers tried to get the driver out of the car he resisted and pushed the accelerator down.
The officers were hanging on to the car as it sped down the road. One officer let go after about 30 feet, but the other didn't let go of the car until after around 10 blocks.
Both were treated at an area hospital and then released.
