Mayor Jay VavricekMayor Vavricek's Mayor Advisory Council will meet for the first time Monday evening.
23 Grand Island citizens were selected by Mayor Vavricek to be on the council.
The council was formed as a way for the mayor to gain greater insight into the community on a variety of topics.
Mayor Vavricek said, "It's hoped a
cross-section of people can better appraise me of views I need to know before
forming opinions or extending potential recommendations. Thank you to the
citizens who have agreed to help in this effort and build a stronger
community."
The first meeting, taking place Oct. 15, will seek input on what the group would like to accomplish.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at Grand Island City Hall, 100 E. First St. The public is welcome to listen in on the meeting.
The council will meet the third Monday of each month at the same time and place.
