Two Kearney High School students are taking volunteering to the next level, Jessie Harris and Brian Whetstone are writing a book.
These two are active volunteers at the Frank House and Trails and Rails Museum. When they're not volunteering, they meet up and dig through old archives at the Frank House and Trails and Rails Museum to research for their book.
The book will have at least 180 pictures. Photographs used will be from 1839-1930. It's tedious work and these writers expect no reward.
"All of the funds for the book and all of the money we get isn't going to us at all," co-author, Jessie Harris said. "It's going to either the Trails and Rails archive building or the Frank House. We're going to split everything between it. We don't want any money from this, we just want people to know about their town's history."
The book, Kearney's Historic Homes, will be written by February and released next year.
The young writers encourage anybody interested in sharing vintage photos of Kearney homes to send their pictures to briwhetstone@gmail.com.
