One local elementary school is taking part in the current political scene. Park Elementary School held an election of their own on Friday.
Students in grades one through five voted for president. But before students could cast their vote, they had to do their own research on the presidential candidates.
The school says that activities like this one will help students prepare for life.
"They watched the news," said Darlene Sweeney, a fifth grade teacher at Park. "I encouraged them to watch the debates, we talked about primaries and caucuses and all kinds of stuff."
"Right now we're like, 10 and 11 so it's just kind of fun to have not a real election, but we can experience what it really would be like," fifth grader Dominque Edwards said.
Park elementary does this every four years, during the presidential election.
