North Platte Woman Makes Plea Deal in Stabbing Case - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

A North Platte woman has made a plea deal after being accused of stabbing her husband.

Elizabeth Cardenas, 49, was convicted of attempted second degree assault after pleading guilty in Lincoln County District Court on Monday.

The charge had been lowered to attempted second-degree assault after Cardenas pleaded not guilty to second degree assault. Another charge of witness tampering was also dropped in the deal.

Prosecutors say Cardenas stabbed her husband in the back on July 16. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 12.
