
Grand Island Senior High School recently had 12 of its students honored at the Mid-America Conference in Columbus.
All GISH students and advisor Brett Forsman received the Statesman Award, an award that recognizes the value of soft skills, employability skills and professional development, at the conference. Seven of the twelve GISH students also received awards in the various contests they competed in while at the conference.
The Mid-America Conference is a leadership and development training for SkillsUSA chapters. The students have to accomplish during the 31/2 day conference what would normally take a SkillsUSA chapter a whole year.
The tasks include community service, fundraising, socials, officer
elections, industry tours, form committees, compete in a leadership competition
and various leadership tasks.
