The Grand Island community comes together to help kids have a brighter future.
This isn't your ordinary fundraiser-- it's a rummage sale with proceeds going to the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in Grand Island.
The group helps find adult matches to spend time with over 50 youth in a four county radius.
Officials say this event is great for the community.
"I think of course helping the matches, helping support Big Brothers Big Sisters because again, everybody knows the children are our future," said Ex. Director Lisa D. Soto. "And the kids we help now obviously are going to help them become more productive citizens in the future."
"The biggest benefit from something like this, proceeds from this fundraiser goes directly to our agency," said Development Coordinator Tara Purdie. "It doesn't go anywhere else, so that's directly benefiting kids here in Hall, Hamilton, Merrick and Howard counties."
Saturday's rummage sale brought in over $1,000 that will help with matches and volunteer services.
