3 Arrested in Fatal Shooting in Western Nebraska

Posted: Updated:

Officials in western Nebraska have arrested three people believed to be connected to the death of a Sidney man.

Authorities believe two of the men were arguing about $160 in drug money when one man shot the other Saturday morning.

Police arrested Jason William Custer on suspicion of second-degree murder several hours after the shooting. The police also arrested Billy Fields and Amber Davis, who are believed to have helped Custer flee from Sidney to Big Springs.

The shooting occurred sometime around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers found Adam McCormick lying in the driveway of a Sidney home with bullet wounds in his abdomen and leg when they arrived. He died later at a hospital.

Witnesses told police that McCormick had confronted another man about the drug money before the shooting.

Custer was arrested at a Big Springs motel shortly before 9 a.m. He remained jailed Sunday in lieu of $1 million bond.
