Kearney Expected to Lose Bid for "Project Edge"

Posted: Updated:

Kearney is expected to lose the bid for the mystery company known as "Project Edge".

The city administrator in Altoona City, Iowa told the Des Moines Register that he expects the mystery company to buy property there by the end of the year.

The city of Kearney was in the running for the over $1 billion data center, with the city council having already approved zoning for the build.

The city even had help from the state Unicameral, which passed legislative bills aimed at luring the company to Kearney.

Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse said in September that the communication with the company had been put on hold and that the city was "standing by".

The company remains a mystery, but is rumored to be Facebook or Apple.
