A local cheerleader is getting her chance to shine in one of the biggest events of her life.
Her school's colors may be purple and white, but Thanksgiving day, Nicole Forbes will be sporting a red and silver uniform.
Nicole was chosen this summer to join about 400 cheerleaders and dance squad members from around the country to perform in Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City, and she can't be more excited.
"I'm really excited. I've always watched the parade since I was little, and I've always watched the cheerleaders that's in the parade," said Southern Valley cheerleader Nicole Forbes. "I didn't think it would be possible."
The 'Spirit of America' cheerleaders will kick off the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade Thursday morning.
Two other cheerleaders from Holdrege and Silver Lake will also take part.
