For many small Nebraska towns getting their youth to stay is a huge challenge.
But for one young Nebraskan, small town living is where he wants to be.
Ben Frerichs defy's the odds. "It's always been an idea of mine to come back, as a fall back I should say. I had a good summer of working so I went back to Lincoln for a few weeks and decided to come back here to work full time and I ended up missing it," said Frerichs.
He went to college for three years in Lincoln and came back to his family farm to help out.
"With the economy the way it is that was one of the main reasons why I wanted to come back because it is a job," said Frerichs.
But do these young Nebraskans hold the key on how to re-populate rural communities?
"There's the thought that there should be more incentives to study ag or to come back to family farms but the fact of the matter is no one wants to anyway," said Frerichs.
Or maybe the culture in the youth in Nebraska has changed.
"Our generation has really been geared up to leave," said Frerichs.
Sometimes you just cant take the small town out of your DNA.
"I love Keene no matter how small it is," said Frerichs.
