North Platte Woman Sentenced in Arson Case - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

A North Platte woman was sentenced Monday to 12 months probation after being convicted of attempted arson.

Royalene Hernandez, 43, pleaded guilty in June to attempted second-degree arson after prosecutors lowered her charges in exchange for the plea.

Hernandez was arrested April 2 after firefighters were sent to her home to battle a carpet fire. Prosecutors say Hernandez started the fire so another resident would leave.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
