Nebraska feedlots have reported the largest inventory of cattle for the month since 1994.
The feedlots contained 2.48 million cattle as of Nov. 1, which is a slight increase from last year.
The
U.S. Department of Agriculture also reports that cattle placements during
October totaled 590,000 head, which is down 11 percent from last year.
Fed
cattle that were marketed in October totaled 425,000 head, up 9 percent
from last year. This is the largest number since the federal government
started gathering data in 1994.
Cattle and calves in feedlots nationwide totaled 11.3 million as of Nov. 1, about 5 percent lower than in the previous November.
Feedlots are classified as having capacities of 1,000 or more head.
