Black Friday Shoppers Converge on Kearney Retailers

Posted: Updated:

With Thanksgiving now taking the name "Gray Thursday", shoppers hit local department stores to get in on the action.

Eager savers were waiting in line at K-Mart for deals, even lined up around the store at Target; all to snag that Thanksgiving deal.

Retail competition is making holiday shopping more prevalent.

While some people may say shopping on Thanksgiving infringes on the holiday spirit, others say it's not so bad.

"Way better, way better. Why? I think it's way better to do it at night than to do it in the morning," said Black Friday shopper Tricia Kuszak. "I got to spend time with my family so it's not too bad tonight."

"I am somewhat surprised but I think the way the economy is people still want a good deal," said K-Mart Store Manager Doug Nygren. "Money's probably still tight, anytime you get a good deal people are going to go for it."

No visible lines were seen outside of Walmart, but people were still rushing in to find that perfect Christmas gift.
