Senator Johanns spoke Monday in regards to the fiscal cliff.
The senator said "Farmers and ranchers should not be forced to pay Uncle Sam more than half the value of their estate, and producers should not be forced to sell land to avoid the impacts of the fiscal cliff."
Johanns said Nebraska's ag-based economy has been a bright spot in an otherwise dismal national economic landscape. He believes that to allow the state's farmers and ranchers to fall victim to the cliff would not only be unfair to them but also dangerous for the country's economic recovery.
