Congressman Lee Terry has been chosen to act as the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's commerce and trade subcommittee.
Terry will begin serving as chairman in January.
The
subcommittee has jurisdiction over many consumer issues and
regulations. They include interstate and foreign commerce issues,
regulation of commercial practices and the Federal Trade Commission,
data security and consumer affairs, protection and product safety.
Terry
says he looks forward to working with Energy and Commerce Committee
Chairman Fred Upton, of Michigan, and will "work hard to improve lives,
promote safety and support job-creating trade agreements."
