Nebraska Rec Areas to Undergo Scheduled Burns - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will be conducting controlled burns in several parks over the winter, as weather permits.

The burns will be held between Dec. 15 and April 30 at Smith Falls State Park, Chadron State Park, Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area and Lake Minatare State Recreation Area.

The commission is planning to burn piles of brush and tree debris.

Removal of trees burned in wildfires at Chadron State Park will begin this winter, and some of that material may be included in the burns.
