Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol seized 58.5 pounds of marijuana over the weekend in two traffic stops.

Saturday, Dec. 1, around 5:15 p.m., a trooper near the Lincoln Airport exit on Interstate 80 pulled over a 2012 Chevy Impala traveling eastbound going faster than the speed limit.

The trooper used a NSP drug dog that indicated the presence of drugs in the back of the car. The trooper then found 33 pounds of marijuana in two duffel bags in the trunk after searching the car.

Hui Yuan Chen, 23, Oakland, Calif., was the only one in the car; she was taken to Lancaster County Corrections and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

The second stop occurred Friday, Nov. 30, around 11:30 p.m., near the 180 mile mark on I-80 in Lincoln County.

The trooper pulled over the eastbound 2012 Mazda for speeding. The trooper could smell the pot and upon conducting a search found 25.5 pounds of marijuana in the trunk. The marijuana was wrapped in 15 individual packages with Christmas paper.

The driver of the vehicle, Robert L. McLeod, 25, Sunrise, Fla., and a passenger, Benjamin T. Whitted, 28, Lauderhill, Fla., were both taken to the Lincoln County Jail, each on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
