Warm Weather Likely To Continue

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska would normally see an average of three inches of precipitation during the winter months, but officials say that precipitation wouldn't help much.

The signs of Christmas are evident, but fake snowflakes may be the only sign of precipitation in the forecast.

This warm weather pattern is an extension of the last year and a half, with November temps for most of the area being two to four degrees above normal.

Officials say we can't even blame El Nino or La Nina for any of this.

"When we're in the middle in terms of oceanic temperatures, it makes it very hard to give any sort of long term predictions with any confidence, so right now I think the best we can do is expect normal precipitation," said Hastings National Weather Services' Mike Moritz. "And just hope for the best in terms of maybe we can get some extra precipitation in the next two to three months."

Besides the slight chance this weekend, there is no widespread precipitation expected in our area within the next 10–14 days.
