Chocolate Peppermint Creme Trifle
- 1 box Chocolate Fudge cake mix
- 2 boxes Jello Chocolate Mousse
- chocolate syrup
- mint chocolate candies (broken into small pieces)
- white chocolate peppermint bark (broken into small pieces)
- chocolate covered mint wafer cookies (broken into small pieces)
- cherries and mint leaves for garnish
Vanilla Creme:
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 14 oz. marshmellow creme
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp. Peppermint extract
Prepare cake and mousse according to directions on box. Cut cooled cake into small cubes. Put vanilla creme and mousse into separate pastry bags. (Use a gallon size bag and cut the bottom corner off)
To assemble the trifle:
- 1st layer: Cake cubes-drizzle with chocolate syrup
- 2nd layer: Vanilla creme
- 3rd layer: Chocolate mint candy pieces
- 4th layer: Chocolate Mousse
- 5th layer: White chocolate peppermint bark pieces
- 6th layer: Chocolate Cake-drizzle with chocolate syrup
- 7th layer: Chocolate Mousse
- 8th layer: Chocolate Mint cookie pieces
- 9th layer: Vanilla Creme/Cool Whip
Garnish with any of the candies or cookies or make holly berries/leaves out of cherries and mint leaves.
