A joint collaboration of an art exhibit and historical presentation shed new light on the humbling beginnings of a popular children's book.
Saturday afternoon, a presentation was held at the Grand Island Public Library focusing on the plight of the authors of the Curious George children's books.
'The Wartime Escape, Margret and H.A. Rey's Journey From France' tells how the authors, both German born Jews, fled both Germany and France from Nazi occupation.
"Anytime I have an opportunity to share stories about the holocaust, I love doing that and then to partner that with the impish Curious George and to see how that ties in to some holocaust education is a wonderful thing to do," said Donna Walter, Education Coordinator for the Institute of Holocaust Education.
The exhibit will remain on display at the Grand Island Public Library until January 19th.
