A former teacher is head of the class in a new way as Senator Greg Adams of York is elected Speaker of the Legislature.
Adams received unanimous support for the role. He is a former teacher and past mayor of York.
He had been chairman of the legislature's Education Committee and now will help set the agenda at the capitol.
He said he had no politcal agenda, but an agenda to help the state.
Adams replaces Speaker Mike Flood who was term-limited out of office.
Adams has been in the legislature since 2006 and was joined by his family on Wednesday amidst the pomp and circumstance of the first day of the 90 day session.
