Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney has been recognized by the National Weather Service in Hastings as a "StormReady Supporter".
Being
considered a StormReady Supporter means the hospital has paid special attention to the severe
weather preparedness for their staff and visitors. Good Samaritan has provided training
sessions regarding the hazards of severe weather and safe practices for dealing
with such conditions.
The hospital maintains a clear awareness of developing severe
weather situations amongst all facilities and adheres to a well devised
severe weather operations plan.
A ceremony was held Tuesday to honor Good Samaritan Hospital. A certificate of achievement will be handed out to recognize the staff. A presentation was also given from NWS staff covering winter weather safety and awareness.
Since
1999, the NWS sponsored StormReady program has recognized over 2,000 counties,
municipalities, universities and other organizations as StormReady. More information
about StormReady is available at their website.
