A newly renovated short-term rehabilitation center in Hastings is holding an open house and dedication ceremony of Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The open house for The Center for Short-term Rehabilitation on the Good Samaritan Society- Hastings Village campus starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m. with the dedication ceremony starting at 2 p.m.
The newly revamped center will provide rehabilitation services for individuals needing physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or speech therapy following hospitalization for injury, surgery or illness.
Post-acute care offers 24-hour skilled nursing care and focuses on helping people recover quickly and return home. Most of the patients using the facility will be those recovering from joint replacement surgery – hip or knee replacement - or those who need cardiac rehabilitation.
Some of the upgrades include one avenue of 26 semi-private rooms that were converted into 25 private rooms, each with its own large restroom and shower – all handicap accessible and all with patient lift accessibility. Also upgraded is the dining room, admission area, a large sitting area, a physician exam room and the rooms are furnished with all new flooring, windows, flat screen TV, and furniture.
Perkins Pavilion is located at 300 S 1st Avenue on the GSS – Hastings Village campus. The Center for Short-term Rehabilitation can be found on the north-east section of the building.
