When a rural healthcare facility provides medical services to as many as 10 thousand people within a 35 mile radius, it's important to build a strong relationship in the region.
Saturday afternoon, staff and service providers of Harlan County Health Systems hosted a meet and greet with community members in Alma. The event shared information about everyone in the organization, from their two clinics, to outside partners, like New West and Aseracare.
Officials say an event like this is key to providing quality care.
"We want our consumers to know our medical providers so they know who's treating them and we want them to feel comfortable," said CEO Jeff Shelton. "So that's why we want to really share our program with community so we'd feel more comfortable and get to know that they are providing your services."
This is the first year for the Winterfest, with plans to make it an annual event.
