The 19th annual Holdrege Water Conference is Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Phelps County Ag Center.
With water being perhaps one of the most prevalent topics of discussion across Nebraska the conference looks to bring together experts that can speak about current water issues that are important to area residents.
The conference is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., with registration and coffee and rolls, and will conclude around 3 p.m. There is no admission fee and lunch will be served courtesy of the conference's sponsors.
Besides the speakers, area merchants and agricultural suppliers will be on hand with booths
and displays to discuss their products and services with conference
attendees.
Speakers and topics for the conference include:
- "Irrigation in Extreme Conditions," Chuck Burr, UNL extension educator.
- "Sprinkler Packages and Placement; Energy Audits," Bill Kranz, UNL irrigation specialist.
- "Irrigation Water Management," Curtis Scheele, irrigation water management specialist.
- "Dust Bowl Descent," Bill Ganzel, executive producer, photographer, writer and editor.
- "The Weather and Climate of 2012, A Record Breaking Year Filled With Extremes," Ken Dewey, climatologist and professor at UNL.
- "NCORPE Augmentation Project," Mike Clements, Lower Republican Natural Resources District manager.
- "Lake McConaughey Water Supply Projections," Marcia Trompke, conservation director, CNPPID.
- "Groundwater Levels in Tri-Basin NRD," John Thorburn, Tri-Basin Natural Resources District manager.
