A South Dakota woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a Nebraska infant.
The charges stem from an incident in 2011 when Judy Jones helped deliver a baby in rural Custer County.
The child she delivered began experiencing medical problems shortly after his birth but investigators say Jones failed to perform the proper follow up tests and did not contact a doctor after the infant stopped breathing.
The 65-year-old had been banned in two states, prior to the incident, from practicing as a mid-wife.
