The Department of Economic Development is accepting applications for funding available through the Civic and Community Center Financing Fund.
Applications will be accepted Feb. 1-15 for funds that would be utilized to construct new civic centers, renovate or expand existing centers, or rehabilitating or reusing historic buildings for the purpose of a community center.
Funding from the grant excludes planning, programming, marketing and advertising.
No grant will amount to more than 50 percent
of the total cost of construction, renovation, or expansion. The minimum grant
request amount is $10,000. The maximum amount,
determined by the population (2010 Census) of a municipality, is:
- Population of 40,000 to 99,999,
$750,000
- Population of 20,000 to 39,999,
$500,000
- Population of 10,000 to 19,999,
$400,000
- Population of 1 to 9,999,
$250,000
Most
Nebraska municipalities are eligible and may apply for a grant in competition
with other municipalities. The cities of Omaha, Lincoln and Ralston, or any
other municipalities receiving previous funding under the Convention Center
Facility Financing Assistance Act, or Sports Arena Facility Financial
Assistance Act are not eligible.
