Lincoln – Attorney General Jon Bruning announced Ryan Kozisek was found guilty by jury on Friday on one count of child abuse resulting in the death of his four-month-old daughter Kayley Kozisek.
The 31-year-old York County man faces the possibility of life in prison when his sentencing comes up in mid-March.
"Exactly two years ago, little Kayley's life was cut too short after suffering severe abuse at the hands of her father," said Bruning. "Hopefully, today's conviction will provide some justice for this baby girl."
In January 2011, Kozisek claimed Kayley had stopped breathing after her two-year old sister fell on her. An autopsy showed multiple injuries that resulted in severe hemorrhaging and brain damage.
The injuries were later determined to be the result of abusive head trauma.
In March 2011, Kozisek pleaded not guilty in York County Court.
Assistant Attorneys General Bill Tangeman and Michael Guinan handled the case.
