Cancer Fundraiser For "Team Braden" A Huge Success

Posted: Updated:

On Sunday evening the community of Holdrege poured out support for Braden Badertscher. Over one-thousand people packed the Phelps County Ag Center to support Braden.

But as he fights for his life, his friends and family await a strong recovery.

Items were auctioned off and plenty of food was being sold to help raise money for those costly bills for cancer treatments for Braden who battles a rare form of cancer.

"Braden's a very outgoing student and a kid well-liked by all of his classmates and almost everybody in the school so it's very easy to put something together and support him," said Team Braden organizer Jeff Moore.

Organizers weren't expecting this huge turnout though.

"I was surprised not only by the turnout but also the number of donations brought in my individuals," said Moore.

"He's a really fun kid and we drive our trucks around town and go to the movies," said longtime friend Ethan Johnson.

Braden is a junior at Holdrege High School and a FFA member and officer. He also is a fan of John Deere which is why the bracelets and t-shirts have green on them.

Braden was unable to attend the event because he was in Omaha getting treatments to combat his rare form of cancer.
