The
Nebraska State Patrol teamed up with the Hastings Police Department,
Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Area Substance and Alcohol Abuse
Prevention Coalition, to conduct compliance checks at 62 alcohol retail
outlets in Adams and Clay counties.
Only one Clay County business was found to be non-compliant during the checks conducted Friday, Jan. 25.
Convenience, liquor, and grocery
stores, are included in the compliance checks, as well as restaurants and bars.
The checks are performed to help communities determine how much sales straight from the store contribute to youths' ability to access alcohol.
The
Nebraska Office of Highway Safety provided $1,980 in grant funds to
assist with the enforcement effort.
