Kearney— BD Construction Inc., of Kearney, one of the Midwest's leading construction companies, has begun work on a major renovation of Plum Creek Motors in Lexington.
"This is the first comprehensive facility update in about 40 years and we are determined to do it right," said Tom Feltes, owner and general manager of Plum Creek Motors.
"We want to provide customers with a thoroughly modern environment where it's comfortable and convenient to shop for a new vehicle or have service work performed," Feltes said.
According to BD Construction President and CEO Mark Benjamin, the construction includes a complete interior and exterior remodel.
"We're working to standards outlined by Chevrolet to create a dealership that reflects the new General Motors image," Benjamin said. "We think it's an exciting design that will reflect positively not only on Plum Creek Motors, but on Lexington and the region as well."
Benjamin said the exterior will change dramatically, with a new aluminum composite facade for the showroom as well as a new freestanding entry tower structure and service bay canopy constructed of the same high-end aluminum composite panels. Benjamin said the panels are a focal point of the new General Motors image. Other elements of the construction include a cappuccino bar as well as updates to the sales offices, and parts and service departments.
Construction, which started in January, should be completed by April thanks to substantial work by local sub-contractors.
Plum Creek Motors will remain in full operation during the construction period.
