Local government officials and
staff, especially application preparers, are encouraged to attend one of
three free application workshops detailing the 2013 Community
Development Block Grant funding process for the CDBG categories
of Comprehensive Revitalization, Downtown Revitalization, Planning,
Public Works and Water/Wastewater offered in January and February (based
on interest).
A
new category this year is Comprehensive Investment and Stabilization that provides CDBG funding help to municipalities, populations of
5,000 to less than 20,000.
Phase I consists of a needs assessment and
strategic plan. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development
then invites communities completing strategic plans to submit
applications for Phase II, three-years of CDBG funding to implement
the strategic plan's public works and housing activities benefiting
low-and moderate-income persons within a neighborhood, or
community-wide.

January 31—Columbus
- 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (CST): Central Community College, 3519 2nd Ave., Room 143
February 5—Lexington
- 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. (CST): Dawson County Opportunity Center,1501 Plum Creek Parkway
February 6, 2013—Gering
- 10:00 am– 2:00 pm (MT), Gering Public Library, 1055 P St.
Staff will be available for informal discussion following each workshop.
To gauge the number of prospective attendees, registration is encouraged by January 30. A lack of registrants may result in cancellation of a workshop at any given location
