Grand Island Library Has Many Events Coming Up

Posted: Updated:

The Grand Island Public Library offers community events for all ages.

A series of Bilingual Storytimes will begin Saturday, Feb. 2. The storytimes are designed for kids preschool through the third grade.

These are free events that will incorporate the American Library Association's "Every Child Ready to Read" philosophy that models, talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing. During the storytimes, kids will listen to stories, make crafts, have playtime, enjoy music, and much more.

The Bilingual Storytimes will meet in the Children's Bookingham Palace from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. the following Saturdays: Feb. 2, Feb. 16, March 2, Mach 16, April 6, and April 20.

On March 2, the library will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday, so participants are encouraged to wear Dr. Seuss hats and attire for the fun storytime.

The Grand Island Public Library is also offering a "Preparing for College and Careers" open house on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the library from 2 to 4 p.m. This free open house is targeted to teens and adults preparing to go to college.

From 2 to 3 p.m. Andrew Hunzeker from Education Quest in Kearney will be featured. Hunzeker will discuss preparing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and other resources and will be available to answer questions.

From 3 to 4 p.m. teens and adults will be able to get information on resumes, preparing for interviews, and tips and advice from stores managers from the Conestoga Mall.

For more information about either event please contact Celine Swan at 308-385-5333.
