Next Gen Dine, the Future of Restaurant Dining, has announced that PhotoSnap™ will be included as a standard feature in all of their mobile restaurant POS software. PhotoSnap™ provides an extraordinary level of merchant chargeback protection on large ticket charges.
Las Vegas (PRWEB) February 04, 2013
Chargebacks pose a significant challenge for food and beverage business owners. A chargeback is a transaction that is disputed by the customer days, weeks or even months after the service is provided and the charge transaction has occurred. Typically the customer will contact the credit card company and protest the charge, stating that he/she was not at the establishment on the date of the charge and/or that he/she did not receive or did not sign for the services charged.
Fraudulent chargebacks are especially difficult to combat. The cardholder may be motivated by a desire to avoid the consequences of overspending on a corporate business expense account, or may be trying to avoid admitting to being in a specific bar or club. Sometimes the cardholder has planned a huge night out with every intention of issuing a chargeback and taking advantage of the system to steal from the bar or restaurant involved. The only weapons available to the restaurant or bar are timely response to the chargeback notification and documentation. Often it can be difficult to locate the appropriate documentation in a timely manner, and - even with a copy of the signed charge ticket available - if a cardholder denies that a signature is his, a bank might award a default “judgement” in the cardholder’s favor. It is possible for hospitality-venue owners operating high-end establishments – particularly those in destination cities – to lose significant revenue on chargebacks and associated fees.
Next Gen Dine provides all of their mobile restaurant point of sale software clients with PhotoSnap™, a state-of-the art chargeback protection feature that is built into the Next Gen Dine software and uses the mobile device’s on-board camera.
PhotoSnap™ becomes part of the restaurant’s chargeback fraud prevention plan. Management determines the ticket value that will automatically trigger use of the PhotoSnap™ feature in the establishment. Wait staff implements that plan and takes a snapshot of the cardholder, along with his/her driver’s license and/or credit card. PhotoSnap™ provides high resolution images and automatically imprints date and time on the digital image. Additionally, the program captures GPS coordinates and integrates this GPS information with Google maps, providing precise and irrefutable charge location information.
All of the captured documentation is stored in a database in PCI-compliant format for future use as necessary. This database is accessible only to authorized facility personnel and is available for the life of the enterprise. If the restaurant or bar is notified of a chargeback, documentation is easy to find using any one of multiple search criteria such as cardholder name, date of charge, or charge total.
With credit card fraud costs topping $100B annually, and with merchants paying over $2 for every $1 in losses due to fees and other charges, PhotoSnap™ offers a robust fraud prevention tool to food and beverage venues.
